Ecolery has created edible, biodegradable cutlery to replace plastic, reducing waste and promoting eco-friendly habits.
By Ecolery
Close your eyes and imagine walking through a neighborhood where the garbage bins are brimming over with tons of plastic cans, bags, and cups. I am sure you can imagine it. Unfortunately, many who use single use plastic are responsible for this issue. As per UNESCO, plastic is one of the most enduring materials, which is non-biodegradable. It makes up 80% of all marine pollution with 8 to 10 million metric tons of plastic waste in the ocean each year.
I am sure we all wish we could wave a magic wand to remove all plastic waste from our oceans. There is still hope, if we act together, we can make a difference and bring about change. Our Ecolery team has developed an innovative alternative to plastic cutlery with edible cutlery like cups which are fully biodegradable. Moreover, these are tasty and eco-friendly alternatives - our solution is zero-waste while also offering people sustainable choices which are not single use plastics.
We hope this eco-friendly concept will get support –there are many people who care about the environmental impact of plastic pollution and who open to making small changes in their lifestyles towards a sustainable future. We also hope businesses in Bangladesh and globally also support Ecolery’s concept and other similar planet-friendly alternatives while making changes for more sustainable packaging choices.
Our mission strongly connects with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13 focusing on climate action. By reducing single use of plastics, it would lead to reduction of carbon emissions linked with manufacturing of plastics too. Our products also encourage circular economy practices with zero waste approach.
We want to advocate and educate too, spreading awareness about plastic pollution will inspire others to adopt greener habits.
Many people think individual actions don’t make a difference when faced with massive challenges like climate change and plastic pollution. But the truth is we all together can make changes with sustainable choices which then snowball into mighty changes over time.
Together our everyday choices shape tomorrow's reality. We also support all children and young people who are advocating and already lead this charge toward positive change.
Winning first place in Generation Hope Goals contest at the 12th Asian-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD) event in Bangkok will provide the much-needed surge in our efforts – with those funds we can expand beyond cups into producing edible plates straws plus containers in future. We want large corporations like hotel chains, airlines, restaurants all replacing plastic items with our earth-friendly alternatives. These kinds of shifts could dramatically slash single-use plastic waste in Bangladesh and worldwide.
Your small actions create big change.
We're dreaming big about launching community workshops too. By spreading knowledge we'll empower communities toward greener choices. Our vision includes partnering with other forward-thinking startups who are all embracing circular economy principles. Through edible packaging we're not just offering products - we're nurturing hope for cleaner oceans thriving marine life healthier ecosystems. Every edible cup represents another step toward healing our planet.
